How to take care of infants in the first month

After cleaning the body, he/she needs to be dried and kept warm in order to avoid hypothermia.

The temperature in room of the baby should be maintained at 26 – 30 degrees C. The infants always need to be held in a warm embrace of mother so as to receive the pat and the shield. In addition, if the diaper of the baby is wet, you should immediately replace to avoid cold and other skin problems.

  1. The care for the skin of infants

The skin of infants is extremely thin and sensitive. At birth, the skin of babies is covered by the substance layer which keeps the heat and protects the baby’s skin. However, after several bathing times, this substance layer will be lost. Consequently, parents should carefully take care of his/her skin because it is no longer the natural protection.

From the cradle, the skin looks like pale but this is completely normal. The baby will become pink after a few days. In particular, if parents look the skin of infants appears jaundice phenomenon on day 3 and 4 after birth, you should notice this problem. This may just be a physiological phenomenon but it can also be jaundice in infants which should be treated.

Parents need to keep the hygiene for the skin of the baby by bathing. If the baby’s diaper is wet, you should replace immediately to avoid the rash on the skin. The type of perfume, soap or fabric softener is not recommended because they can harm for the skin of infants.

  1. The care for the umbilical of infants

The umbilical is the sensitive part infants. Consequently, from the cradle, the care for the umbilical of infants needs to ensure the principles of hygiene in order to prevent the infection of the umbilical in the first days. You should keep the umbilical of infants clean and dry which is general principle.

When bathing, parents should avoid making wet the umbilical of the baby. Every day, you ought to be clean hygiene the umbilical with alcohol 70 degrees. Then, you gently bandage to dry naturally. After 7 – 10 days, it will turn black and shed itself. Absolutely, parents do not use the strange ointment, cut or rip the umbilical cord. Moreover, parents should clean their hands with alcohol 70 degrees before cleaning the umbilical of the baby.

  1. The nutrition for infants

After birth, the baby needs to be breastfed. Breast milk provides a full of nutrients and water; especially, there is antibodies which help the baby prevent disease. Besides, breast milk also helps the baby feel warm and secure. Mothers have to breastfeed on their baby’s demand until 6 months. Furthermore, infants needn’t to eat any food or drink.

The first mothers need to learn how the breastfeeding posture is. If the posture is right, the baby can breastfeed so much; even, breast milk also produce anymore. In case, when mothers have not milk or breast milk is not enough, you must use the suitable powder milk for his/her age. All belongings of infants include baby bottle and teat which need to be clean and dry before utilizing.
